The Baluchi banjo was first introduced to Pakistan from Japan as a toy instrument for children, but was soon modified by local Baluchi master musicians who turned it into a highly refined folk instrument. The Baluchi banjo is a combination of strings and keys with another layer of ‘sympathetic strings’ that give the instrument its unique resonance.
