Inspired by her mother, Shahida Afzal began making jewelry at a very young age. And later turned it in to a business which is now fifteen years old. She acquires material from Quetta and Karachi mainly. Being a widow herself, Shahida aims to empower women around her, and hence she has now built a strong team of exceptionally talented women artisans in her area who work day and night in different capacities. These women are not professionally trained. Shahida herself made an effort in teaching them the art and techniques of this business.
Living in Quetta, Shahida experiences a lot of hurdles in purchasing the right kind of material required for jewelry making. But she has managed to always meet the deadlines for the orders she receives. Shahida Afzal is an educated woman who believes in empowering women through education and awareness on their rights. She dreams big of projecting her work on international scale where she can represent the creativity of Pakistani women belonging to far flung areas. And also she is looking forward to create a display center for women artisans in her area.
